I have a black velvet elephant ear that came back from the dead 🙃 but now it never grows more than 2 leaves! Once the second leaf starts growing I get the translucent looking spots and eventually the brown crispy edge with the yellow ring. I just leave it 🤷🏽‍♀️😂

Watching in 2024 and your channel is still legendary. Thanks, Jimmy. My favorite Variegated Monstera channel. And definitely super original. One of the firsts! I got into collecting albos ever since I started watching you. And albos are still my favorite despite of the new variants that are coming out.

Not sure about that first one - I tend to find if a 'bottom' part of the leaf goes thin and like wet tissue paper, and still has the green like yours does, it's from edema (overwatering/inconsistent watering). It's still green initially, as though that part of the leaf his died suddenly, then it crisps up. Edema can also lead to fungal issues since it causes tissue damage. When I see that I reduce how much water I'm using per watering and make sure I'm watering consistently i.e. not letting it get more dry or stay more moist than usual between waterings. Also the shape of that leaf and the fact it's only giving you two at a time, have you tried CalMag?

This is my favorite obsession at the moment. I absolutely love warocqueanums!!!! I just switched all my Anthuriums and Alocasia’s from terracotta to the plastic net pot so they hold “more moisture”, which they do. Terracotta soaks up the moisture, which is why the roots stick to the sides of the pots to follow the moisture in the clay. Having a bowl of water underneath would be a good idea to keep the pot wet for the roots. You have a semi-hydro thing going on before PON came out. I see this video is 4 years old. 😂 Hope your queens are still doing fantastic. I have a third one coming tonight!

All I know is that when my mother was watering her devils ivy plant it was flourishing and nearly completely green. As soon as I took over, this started happening ☹️☹️ I don’t even get the leaves wet; I always water the soil to get the roots. I thought I was watering it too much, then I thought I was watering it too little. Smh. I hope I get the hang of it. We’ve had this particular plant for a very long while. Can’t ask for advice due to her passing. Thanks for all the info.

Humidifiers end up fucking up your electric devices and really they don’t change the humidity too much. Having a bath or leaving the hot water in the shower run for a bit does the same in a shorter time and doesn’t fuck your electronics... the more plants and moss poles you have in a space, the higher will be the humidity in the space. The humidity in my place is 65+ 70+ and I don’t use humidifiers anymore. They are a scam

Why people hate on purple lights? They work very well to bring out more green on very variegated plants it seems.

NoID Mint has been imported in my area only last year but I got extremely lucky yesterday and found a rooted cutting for about $100 even though a 2-3 leaves plant is usually selling for $500 at the moment. It's been in TC for a while though, so the prices should be dropping soon...

I have OCD, ADHD, a dissociation disorder, and a whole lot of trauma that has lead to unhealthy eating habits. I have gotten really into plants about a year ago now, and have definitely spent a lot of money and time on my new hobby. I enjoy caring for plants a lot, but I stress about them too, because I have this desire to be perfect. Living things are not perfect, and it can cause me lots of stress when my plants aren't looking pristine. Luckily, I don't qualify for plant abuse, and this video has helped me not to worry about it.

brother it's actually better adding a automatic misting system with a water tank with a floating ball valve connected to the main water supply.. and you can just program it to mist every 1 hr for a minute or more.. you can just get a booster pump used for ro systems and diy it.. that's wat I do for my my terrarium shop where I have like 20 plus setups.... mosses ferns and other tropical plants

If you have a very large pot with very well draining soil-you’re basically emulating what it would be like to be planted in the ground.

Any ideas on how they care for the plants? I recently visited "Plantas Plantas" in Osaka, in a store inside a shopping mall. I couldn't believe the quality of the plants, because they don't have enough light (or natural light) or humidity, but the plants look incredibly grown. Does anyone know how they do or achieve that?

Not sure if my monstera has it, but I watered it and normally the wilting of the leaves goes away. I took it out and repotted it yesterday into a slightly bigger pot, and got her out of the plastic nursery pot. The roots seemed ok. Didn’t smell bad. But just to be safe, I treated it with 1/3 parts hydrogen peroxide in water. The soil was dry before I did this. But today, I did notice some yellowing of some of the older leaves… I hope it’s not too late.
